Competitors evaluation

The Fork and Zomato
1.) Does the information management with the appropriate hierarchy and the information is easy to find?
Yes, there is a searching bar at the top page, it helps users to quickly go straight to search the restaurants in the area that they want which work similarly with google where the search bar is the most important of the page as same as Zomato. Both websites have used 3 levels of heading even though the Fork use slightly smaller text size but they are still easy to skim the information.
2.) Do text size and colour support readability?
Yes, both of them have used back and white text colour but they are only using white colour for the large text or heading to contrast a background picture. They used black colour for the smaller text and the information that needs to take time to read.
3.) Does it easy to find information?
They both are fairly easy to find the information. However, The fork has used good topics heading and separate in a different column. It has shown the restaurant page directly under the subtopic. Whereas Zomato has used a wide topic heading name which not specific enough and it does not show any direct restaurant page, It is forces users to go deep into the menu structure.
4.) Does it has enough white space, have some breathe space for users or Is it too much white space?
Yes, They have enough and consistency white space, both are pretty much similar.
5.) Does the layout consistent and meet the standard?
Yes, they have used 12 column grid, which is standard for most web design.
6.) Will the page be quick enough to load, enhance the user to browse the site faster?
They both have used the large picture on their website but they are only used at the top of the page as a hero image. I test it on my phone (with wifi at home) it takes three to four seconds which is ideal website load time. I reckon that if using mobile data it would take up for 5seconds for the loading time. However, both websites have a mobile application to support their users.
7.) Any Error prevention, interruption people from accidentally mistake?
The fork has a better version of error prevention. On booking table page the fork the to click through a couple of pages before confirming the booking whereas Zamato has confirmed button on the first page with no alert or interruption before confirming.
8.) Does it show the aesthetic of minimalist?
Yes, for the text use but not quite minimal enough in terms of white space because there are many main topics and sub-topic sections. they use many individual pictures. However, I do understand that website about food should have a variety of picture to attach people and make them feel craving for food.
9.) Could users recognise the web features and knowing obvious how to use the site?
Yes, both of them are obvious on how to use. They have a prototypical design in the same industry area.
10.) Does information and features on the appropriate page?
Yes, for example, they have an interesting topic on the home pages such as popular in Melbourne and best Asian takeaway etc..
My website evaluation

Yes, It quit work well but just a few point to consider - should only have 3 levels of text hierarchy?

The text size is big enough, the neon green text on the dark background is readable but should only use 2 colours of text to make it less confusing for the hierarchy and make it look cleaner.

Yes, it Separate information clearly in different sections.

Yes, it has consistency on across the page with the simple column grid which able to apply 12 column grid system.
6.) Will the page be quick enough to load, enhance the user to browse the site faster?
I think I fairly quick could be 3-5 sec loading time due to size of the hero image. The target users like to see many beautiful pictures so try to use good quality pictures but cut down the number of the picture on each page instead.
7.) Any Error prevention, interruption people from accidentally mistake?
There is no error prevention - should consider having cancel button next to sign up and submit buttons.

Minimal amount of images, text choice is san-serif and use of the colour scheme is limited and overall clean look - should consider removing green line on top of the menu bar on microsite page.
9.) Could users recognise the web features and knowing obvious how to use the site?
Yes, the same button has the same colour and the same indication across the page. It has prototypical element and layout, consider to have a larger space on searching bar section and have less text or information under the introducing section.

Yes, it can draw the attention of users with the titles and the content are appropriate, It included relevant information according to the topic such as promotion page has directly shown the promotion code and restaurant page showing the top6 restaurant that could help the users to decide their choice faster.
